Rotational atherectomy

Abstract

Rotational atherectomy has been used effectively to treat type B and C lesions that are unsuitable for conventional percutaneous transluminal coronary angioplasty. Success rates of 94% to 97% have been reported. Complication rates are low despite the high-risk subgroups treated. This article on the Rotablator system inaugurates a series on new devices under investigation for coronary revascularization.
