Abstract

We have described a patient with a myocardial abscess caused by Streptococcus agalactiae, which was successfully treated with antimicrobial agents. This report serves to emphasize the importance of closely observing patients with endocarditis, with regular physical examinations, serial electrocardiograms and echocardiograms, and (when indicated) gallium scanning to rule out the possibility of a significant myocardial abscess which may need surgical intervention.
