Abstract

The field of metabolic medicine has evolved into a unique discipline that requires both clinical acumen and biochemical expertise to master. Metabolic specialists treat conditions from the very common to those that are exceedingly rare. In a single day’s work, a metabolic physician can go from seeing patients with obesity or metabolic syndrome (MetS) to those with mitochondrial diseases or micronutrient deficiencies.
